SEARCH FOR BENTON-FREMONT HOUSE IN THE VALLEY

The Museum of the San Fernando Valley has been contacted by Ms. Anna Marie Brooks concerning any photographs of the former home of Mrs. Jessie Benton Fremont that once stood on 5744 Ethel Avenue in Valley Glen (nee Van Nuys, California) Ms. Brooks is an architectural historian.
According to Ms. Brooks, “It was originally the home of Jessie Benton Fremont, moved to Ethel from 1101 West 28th Street (at Hoover) in West Adams, where it was built in 1892, by "the women of California" for Mrs. Fremont.”
“I have a photo of the house in its original location in West Adams. I am, however, interested in later photos because according to permits there were window change outs and who knows what else?”
Note:
Jessie Benton Fremont was the widow of General John C. Fremont.
If you have photo images of the house as it stood in either of its locations in the San Fernando Valley, please contact your Museum.

The San Fernando Valley, in the heart of the Creative Capital of the World, deserves a great Museum of history and culture.

I just ran across your article on Jesse and her house on Ethel on the blog site. Somehow, I had missed it before. According to the Thomas Guide, it would have been located on the Grant High School grounds, just south of Oxnard St. According to Wikipedia it was created in 1959. It is in the quadrangle of Valley College, which probably bought the land when it created the College in 1951. As you know, it was a sheep ranch prior.
I am suspicious of this address. Doesn't mean I'm right, just suspicious. I would love more information.
