HAPPY LABOR DAY FROM THE MUSEUM OF THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY

Goodyear Blimp - Above Dodger Stadium - Sept. 6, 2009 - Photo by Janne Fecht (click on image to enlarge)

In the passionate discourse of American politics, it is sometimes useful to remember that the Founders of our Republic had strong disagreements about how our nation should be governed and the direction of our collective efforts. The Constitution of the United States, aside from laying our the formation of our government, is chiefly concerned about the protection of property. The Bill of Rights (you'll recall that they are "amendments" to the Constitution) were put into place by our Founders at the demand of those who insisted on a nation based on human and civil rights. The struggle over dominance or balance between human and property rights has been the story of our country since 1789.
The flag depicted on the Goodyear blimp last night at Dodger Stadium, reminded me that there are probably as many political opinions as there are, and have always been, Americans.
