Two of the most important early developers of the modern San Fernando Valley were Isaac Lankershim and Isaac Newton Van Nuys. Their graves and those of their wives lie at the base of an obelisk designed to leave a lasting impression. Today, in downtrodden Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles, these once powerful men in a seldom visited tomb.

Richard Hilton states:

Boyle Heights was the place to be back then, Jewish or not... even the cemetery. Can you imagine after how much they meant to the Valley, Lankershim and Van Nuys both wanted to be buried there. Not too far from them is a bunch of Civil War markers as well as children who once you begin reading the years, obviously died from influenza or something.

Obviously a Masonic monument. A lot to do with their power and success.
