Flying Friendly at Van Nuys Airport - 23 Companies Receive Awards

VAN NUYS, CA – June 28, 2017 – Thirty-three general aviation companies received Friendly Flyer Awards at the fifth annual Friendly Flyer Awards Ceremony. Companies were recognized for their compliance with Van Nuys Airport’s (VNY) Fly Friendly Program in 2016. The winners were honored for their outstanding achievement at VNY by adhering to all established noise abatement regulations and achieving 99% or greater compliance with all voluntary noise abatement programs.

The Museum of the San Fernando Valley is happy to be the featured non-profit organization at the Valley Cultural Center's "Concerts on Green" event with the Surf City Allstars (including Original Beach Boy, David Marks) on Sunday, July 16th!

Sunday, July 16 | 6:00 PM

Surf City All Stars – Featuring Original Beach Boy, David Marks

Original Beach Boy David Marks is touring together with the SURF CITY ALLSTARS to bring you the Greatest Hits of the Beach Boys Show. David started rehearsals with the Beach Boys in 1961. David Marks played guitar and sang on many of the Beach Boys’ biggest hits: “Surfin’ Safari,” “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Catch a Wave,” “Little Deuce Coupe,” “409,” “Shut Down,” “In My Room,” and many more….
Many people don’t realize that there were 6 original Beach Boys in those early days. David was with Al Jardine, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson. You can see all 6 of them honored at the Beach Boys’ Historical Landmark in Hawthorne, CA, where they all grew up and became the greatest American Rock & Roll band of all time. In recent years, David has recorded on The Beach Boys #3 album, That’s Why God Made the Radio, and was a guest artist on Brian Wilson’s 2015 solo release, No Pier Pressure.
David also toured the world as part of the highly publicized Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Celebration and also toured alongside Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, & Jeff Beck in what was called one of the top tours of 2013. David still tours as a special guest with the touring Beach Boys as well as with the Surf City Allstars.
